Cove Harbor
North Expansion and Development
The project to expand
Cove Harbor North is off to a good start. The actual harbor
area is being mechanically dredged. The material will be
excavated, de-watered, and moved to an upland disposal site.
The developer who leases this property from the District has
presented conceptual plans to construct other improvements
on the site as well. The area is ultimately expected to be
utilized for multiple purposes with a mix of residential and
perhaps retail space as well. The dredging currently
underway is one of the pre-requisites placed on the
developer under the terms of the current agreement.

A good start on creating the new harbor area can
be seen here! |

The harbor is appearing one bucket at time in a
methodical process of "up and then back". |

The trucks are filled over and over again as
they work through the process. |

What appears as mountains of earth are allowed
to de-water prior to being moved to its
designated upland disposal site. |

The excavation will continue all the way to the
buildings on the horizon of this picture. |

Note the sloped sides on the bank as the cut
goes down creating what will be roughly 8 feet
of water depth once the harbor is allowed to
fill. |
